Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of 1st Farm Credit Services is comprised of 15 members. Twelve members are clients who are elected by the Association’s voting stockholders. Two members are "outside directors" who are not clients and are elected by other directors. One member is an "appointed director" who is determined by the other directors. The Board of Directors meets regularly to set policy and business direction and to monitor and evaluate operations.

Jeffrey Austman
Chairperson

Jeff has a corn and soybean operation. He serves as a board member for the Prairie Central Board of Education. He also serves as board member for the Gibson Area Hospital Foundation. Jeff serves on the Compensation and Governance Committees. He has served on the Board since 2008 and his term expires in 2020.

Roger Schrodt
Vice Chairperson

Roger has a corn and soybean operation. He is a Knox County Farm Bureau member. He served as a director on the AgriBank District Farm Credit Council Board. Roger is currently serving as Vice Chairperson of the Board and Vice Chairperson of the Executive Committee. He serves on the Compensation and Governance Committees. Kevin Aves

Kevin farms with family members in their corn, soybean and wheat operation. He serves as a trustee and treasurer of the Kirkland Community Fire District. Kevin serves as Chairperson on both the Governance and Compensation Committees. He also serves on the Executive Committee. He has served on the Board since 1992 and his term expires in 2017.

Clinton V. Brown

Clinton has a corn and soybean operation and owns land which is enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program. Clinton also owns a property management business. He serves on the Business Risk Committee. He has served on the Board since 2010 and his term expires in 2018.

Steve Cowser

Steve has a corn, soybean, seed soybean, wheat and hay production; a small cow/calf herd operation. His family also owns and operates a sow center producing weaner pigs.  He serves as the Milo Township Supervisor, Secretary/Treasurer for the Mound Cemetery Association and Secretary/Treasurer for Multi Township Assessing District #13.  Steve serves as Vice Chairperson on the Audit Committee. Dr. Robert Easter
Outside Appointed Director

Dr. Robert Easter, President Emeritus of the University of Illinois, serves as an appointed outside director. Easter was born and raised in Texas, and being involved in Future Farmers of America, now known as FFA, shaped his interest in agriculture. He and his wife Cheryl came to the University of Illinois in 1973. After obtaining a Ph.D. in animal science, Easter never left the university, working as a swine researcher, …

Kathleen Hainline
Outside Appointed Director

Kathleen is affiliated with an agriculture risk management consulting/brokerage firm. She has 17 years of auditing experience in financial institutions and agribusiness. She serves as Chairperson on the Audit Committee. She also serves on the Executive Committee. She has served on the Board since 2009 and her term expires in 2017.

David A. Keller

David farms with a family member in their corn, soybean and hay operation. He serves on the Business Risk Committee. He has served on the Board since 1987 and his term expires in 2017.

David Muegge

Dave farms corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa and finishes hogs and cows in Adams County. He has been active in the local county Farm Bureau and the Adams County Comprehensive Planning Committee. He serves on the Compensation and Governance Committees. He has served on the Board since 2016 and his term expires in 2020.

Roger J. Newell

Roger farms with family members in their corn, soybean and alfalfa operation. They also have a beef cow/calf herd and a purebred swine operation. He serves as the Elba Township Supervisor and as a trustee of the Knox County South Assessment District Board. Roger serves on the Audit and Government Affairs Committees. He has served on the Board since 1995 and his term expires in 2018.

David H. Peters

David farms with family members and custom farms in a grain operation producing wheat, soybeans and corn. He serves as president on the Manteno Township Fire Protection District Fire Commission and director for the Manteno Farmer’s Elevator both in Manteno. He also serves as treasurer of the Kankakee County Soil and Water Conservation District in Bourbonnais. David serves on the Audit and Government Affairs Committees. He has served on the …

Michael R. Pratt

Michael farms with family members in their corn, soybean and seed corn operation. He serves as Vice Chairperson on the Business Risk Committee. He has served on the Board since 2002 and his term expires in 2018.

Kathy Reinhardt

Kathy runs a soybean, corn and custom farming operation, with her husband. She has been a Certified Public Accountant for more than 20 years. She serves on the Audit Committee. She has served on the board since 2015 and has been a Farm Credit member for 23 years. Her term will expire in 2018.

Joseph  Scheetz

Joe raises hogs and grows grain on his Hancock County Farm. He has been active in his local Farm Bureau, Sts. Peter and Paul School Board and the West Central Pork Producers. He serves on the Business Risk Committee. He was elected to the Board in 2016 and his term expires in 2019.

Stephanie Wise
Appointed Inside Director

Stephanie grew up on a family farm near Sheffield. She has a degree in economics and business administration from Augustana College and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.   Following a 25-year career in banking, she is now primarily engaged in her family’s farming and agribusiness interests.
